As we approach the end of what has been a very difficult year the Employability Team and Workforce Skills Team at the College are working hard to support those of your clients who have been impacted in some way, whether it be due to unemployment, furlough or have new aspirations for 2021.

For this reason we have put together a very short taster course in Health & Social Care which we are sure will support a number of your clients in different ways, this is due to enrol next Wednesday, 2nd December at the College's Arts Centre on Myrtle Street.

Topics covered will include:

Searching for a Job

CV Writing Skills

Employability Rights & Responsibilities

Internet Safety for IT Users

Equality & Diversity at Work

L2 Health & Safety at Work

In addition to this we are also delivering 2 modules of a Level 1 Health Care Qualification with the support of one of the College's Health & Social Care Assessors:

Level 1 AIM Awards, Health, Lifestyles and Science Industries: Healthy Lifestyle, Essentials

Level 1 AIM Awards, Health, Lifestyles and Science Industries; Mental Health and Well-Being, Fundamentals

For any of the learners who are interested they will also have access to tasters in PPE, Safe Hand Washing as well as a choice of the following topics to enhance their CV:

Duty of Care

Child Neglect and its Causes

Understanding Your Role in Health and Social Care

Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care

Person-Centred Practice

Effective Communication in Health and Social Care

Privacy and Dignity in Health and Social Care

Fluids, nutrition and food safety

Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disability

Safeguarding Adults in Health and Social Care

To ensure that all of our learners are kept Covid-safe the delivery will be a blended approach of class taught lessons (socially distanced) and some online delivery.

Progression can include additional courses from ourselves in January 2021, full-time courses at the College, Apprenticeships or employment.

To be eligible for this programme the client must have been 19 years of age on the 31st August 2020, be unemployed or on a low income, we would also be happy to work with those of your clients who could be at risk of redundancy or generally looking for a career change.
