Support Worker/Care Worker

Job purpose

To provide support to a calm and happy 13-year-old boy with an ASD diagnosis living in the Litherland area of Sefton.

I am non-verbal; however, I can understand English and Polish when spoken in short sentences and I am given time to process the information. I can communicate my needs in multiple ways which you will learn as you get to know me.

I am looking for a friendly, patient, and caring person to support me with my independent skills, to explore places in the community with and to have fun playing and doing social activities I enjoy.

I love going for short walks down the canal to see the ducks, to the park or the local shops. I will require support while I am out in the community, as I do not recognise risk.

I love listening to songs and I will sing and dance around my house to my favourite songs. The songs may be in English, Polish, or other languages. I also like watching YouTube or playing with toy cars.

I am looking for the opportunity to have some independence from my parents for a few hours each week as I would like to have the same life experiences as those of my none disabled peers.

Main Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support.

To spend time to get to know my lovely personality and learn how I communicate my needs.

To provide support and encouragement with all aspects of personal care.

Promote independent skills.

Support to participate in activities that I enjoy and help me to discover new ones.

Support to access the wider community and possibly explore new environments.

Help to keep me safe whilst out and about.

Experience and Skills required.

We are looking for a cheerful and positive individual with a friendly, empathetic, and enthusiastic attitude about caring for others.

Ideally have experience of supporting children/young people with additional needs.

Willingness to build up and develop positive relationships.

Be patient, kind and trustworthy.

Have good communication skills and the ability to be punctual and reliable.

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences; this cost will be met by the employer.
