Support Worker/Care Worker - SOUTHPORT DP/JR/AB

Job purpose

This position is to provide 1:1 support to a 5-year-old boy with Autism and global developmental delay in the Southport area of Sefton.

My heritage is Bengali, but I understand English and Bengali languages. I am nonverbal and show little emotion, however, I can communicate by touch and eye contact.

I like watching TV programmes, my favourites are Peppa Pig and Coco melon.

I have no danger awareness and require constant supervision to ensure my safety and wellbeing.

I am looking for a kind caring person who is willing to get to know me, support me with my personal care and daily routine and have fun doing activities with me within my home and in the community.

Main Responsibilities (list main duties)

To provide 1:1 support with personal care and daily routine

To learn how I communicate my needs.

Support me to participate in activities that I enjoy and help me to discover new ones.

Support me to access the wider community and possibly explore new environments.

Help to keep me safe whilst out and about.

To support me with my cognitive skills, social interaction, emotional regulation and sensory processing.

Experience and Skills required (Essential and desirable)

You must be friendly, empathetic, and enthusiastic about caring for others.

Ideally have experience of supporting children/young people with additional needs.

Willingness to build up and develop positive relationships.

Be patient, kind and trustworthy.

Good communication skills and the ability to be punctual and reliable.

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences; this cost will be met by the employer.
