Course starts 7th October 2020.

Enrolment day 5th October 2020.

In October Torus will be running a Women into Construction training routeway in partnership with City of Liverpool College and the Construction Hub. It is planned to start on 7th October and run over a two- and half-week period and end just before the half term for schools.

This is not just a course designed to steer women into construction but also to demonstrate the different job roles available in the sector, how to go about getting qualifications and apprenticeships in specific trades and to help boost skills that they can use within their own home. They will also receive transferable skills that could be used to apply for work outside of the construction sector.

During the training candidates will receive the following training:

Entry Level 3 City and Guilds Construction Qualification.

Employability Skills for Construction (Modules below)

  • Skills Assessment & Self Development
  • Searching for a Job
  • Applying for a Job
  • Interview Skills
  • Working as part of a team – group project
  • Managing Personal Finances
  • Valuing Equality & Diversity

Level 1 Principles of Building and Construction

Level 1 Environmental Sustainability

Level 1 Health and Safety in Construction

CSCS Green Card

With the option to have additional training / cards fully funded upon completion of the routeway thanks to Procure Plus and Jobcentre Plus. The additional training will depend on the likely hood of work being obtained and if it is required for future job goals.

During the program we will have guest speakers from the industry to come in and talk about what it's like not just to work on site, but the different and varied career paths available in the construction sector. We will also have hands on practical sessions covering such elements as joinery, plastering, tiling and other trade skills.

Upon completion we will have opportunities for work placements on live sites, apprenticeships, and live job opportunities to apply for.

I am looking to hold an open day for this course on Monday 5th October.
