L21

To support a young boy with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. He is a happy, affectionate and engaging child who benefits from structure routines as he can become emotionally overwhelmed. He has limited awareness of danger.

Hours:

Saturday – times to be agreed

6 hrs term time

12 hrs non term time – weekdays to be agreed

Rate of Pay: £13.00 per hour

Expected duties would be:

Support with activities in the home and in the community using a safety wheelchair

Close supervision when eating as there is a choke risk due to him overfilling his mouth and not recognising when he is full

Personal care – on occasion he can be doubly incontinent

Skills and experience required:

Experience of supporting children with complex/additional needs is preferred however someone willing to take the time to build a relationship and understand his needs would be considered.

Calm, kind, caring, supportive and patient

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences; this cost will be met by the employer.
