Job Purpose
---
To carry out direct work and offer appropriate services to children and young people aged 8 to 18 years who are displaying abusive behaviour towards their parents or carers.
Main Responsibilities
---
Undertake initial and ongoing assessments of the needs of children and young people displaying abusive or harmful behaviour towards their parents, drawing on information from partner agencies where appropriate, including cases involving additional complex needs.
Provide relevant and appropriate support programmes for children and young people and make referrals to other support services where required, including safeguarding services.
Ensure that the needs of children, young people and parents are identified, prioritised and addressed wherever possible.
Ensure service outcomes are identified, achieved and evidenced to referral agencies, parents/carers and other relevant organisations.
Advocate for and liaise on behalf of children and young people with statutory and other agencies when required.
Act in a consultancy and advisory capacity for external agencies.
Engage parents, children and young people in identifying and developing appropriate services.
Manage a varied and changing caseload in line with organisational guidance, policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date and relevant case records on both the Case Management System and Local Authority systems.
Prepare internal and external reports as required, including safeguarding conference reports, court reports, legal aid letters, team meeting minutes and monitoring reports.
Assist, support and supervise volunteers and students within the organisation.
Contribute to service development and take responsibility for personal development through supervision, training, team meetings, board meetings and agency events.
Collect, retain and submit data required by SWACA in full compliance with GDPR and Data Protection requirements.
Promote the charity by supporting fundraising and public relations activities.
Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required.
Some evening and weekend work is required as part of this role. Time off in lieu will be authorised where applicable.
Essential Requirements

### Experience and Qualifications
Significant experience delivering one-to-one and group interventions to children and young people.
Relevant qualification in youth and community work, education, counselling, social work or a related field.
Experience working with children who have additional complex needs.
### Knowledge
Understanding of child development.
Understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on families.
Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and practice.
Understanding of behaviour-related issues affecting children with complex additional needs.
Knowledge of multi-agency approaches, statutory meetings and legal processes.
Knowledge of GDPR and Data Protection requirements.
### Skills and Competencies
Ability to deliver effective interventions to children and young people while responding to changing family dynamics.
Ability to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and young people.
Sensitive and non-judgemental approach when working with complex family issues.
Ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Case Management Systems.
Ability to manage and prioritise an individual caseload.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to reflect on and develop professional practice through supervision and peer support.
