This role sits at
the heart of Rotunda's community offer, helping to create a warm, welcoming
café environment for learners, visitors, local residents, staff and volunteers.
You'll support
the preparation, cooking and presentation of fresh, good quality food, while
contributing to a friendly service that reflects the values and spirit of our
Charity.
This is an ideal
opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, people-facing work and wants to
be part of a purposeful organisation rooted in the local community. Working
10am–2pm, you'll help ensure the café runs smoothly during the day, with food
prepared safely, presented well and served with care. Reliability, pride in
good service and a positive team approach are essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook and present simple, fresh food to
a consistent standard
• Support the smooth day-to-day running of the
café
• Serve customers in a friendly, welcoming and
professional way
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene,
cleanliness, presentation and safety
• Help with stock rotation, basic ordering
information and reducing waste
• Keep preparation areas, equipment and the
kitchen clean, organised and ready for use
• Follow food labelling, allergen awareness and
temperature control procedures
• Work positively with staff, volunteers and
learners, supporting Rotunda's community ethos
• Contribute ideas for simple menu improvements,
specials and ways to make the café welcoming and sustainable
• Carry out any other reasonable duties linked to
the café and wider Charity offer
Person Specification
Essential
• Hold a certificate in Food Hygiene Level 2
• Demonstrate excellent communication and
influencing skills
• Be able to work effectively as part of a team
whilst undertaking a leadership role
• Be able to demonstrate an up-to-date
understanding of the sector
• Lead by example and give clear direction to the
team
• Proven experience working in a similar role
• Be uncompromising in achieving company standards
• Communicate relevant information regularly,
efficiently and concisely to the team
• Build effective and constructive relationships
Desirable
• Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering
Principles (Professional Cookery - Food Preparation and Cooking) or equivalent
• Hold a health and safety in the workplace
certificate
• Identify ways to improve profitability
