Carer/Support Worker/PALitherland, Sefton

We’re looking for a Caring and Enthusiastic Support Worker to provide support to a friendly and loving 8-year-old boy with ASD. He is pre-verbal with limited understanding of daily life and his surroundings. He has no sense of danger or road awareness. He has a disability buggy to use whilst travelling on public transport.

He is a happy boy who loves being free to run in safe and secure environments. He likes his iPad and headphones and enjoys going swimming.

8 hours per week

10 hours per week during school holidays

(May require hours to be used after school during weekdays. All to be mutually agreed with the support worker when identified.)

£13.00 per hour

Duties include:

• Provide 1-1 support
• Engage, interact and play
• Close supervision always required
• Supporting access to the wider community and fun social activities
• Helping identify new interests and suitable sensory-friendly activities
• Providing personal care while maintaining dignity and comfort
• Help develop independent skills
• Support with communication

The successful applicant should have:

• Experience and knowledge of working with SEN children is desirable
• Experience of working in a caring role, formal or informal, is desirable
• Must be friendly, caring and empathetic
• Enthusiastic with a positive outlook
• Must be reliable and punctual
• Have patience and understanding
• Have good communication skills
• Ability to engage and interact well
• Be creative and fun
• Driving licence and access to own vehicle desirable but not essential

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences; this cost will be met by the employer.
