About the role
Carer/Support Worker/PA Crosby (2 posts available)
25 Hours per week (some weekend work will be required)
£12.75 per hour
The role is for a 11 year old girl who lives with her mum and older brother in Crosby.
She has Downs Syndrome, Austism (PDA profile) and complex medical needs. She is not aware of danger and always needs monitoring. She communicates verbally, despite her struggling with diction and having a limited vocabulary for her age. Familiarity with her creates increased understanding.
She is having surgery in July/August which will mean she will be wheelchair bound during her recovery period, with physio to assist her to get back onto her feet.
She can use the toilet but needs assistance in checking wiping. She will need assisting to physically get on and off a toilet or commode post operatively.
She requires assistance when having a shower or bath. She needs to be encouraged to learn to wash her hair and assisted with it. Equally she cannot brush her own hair yet, and it’s important that she is encouraged to try to brush her own hair first before it is brushed by a carer and that she is shown how to do it herself each time it is done.
She loves art and going to the park and even more so the zoo for which she has a pass which covers two carers. Most of all she loves food but needs to be encouraged to make good choices in respect of food and to have set mealtimes.
She has homework from School which she needs full support with.
She can become dysregulated at times, but is a happy, confident girl who knows her own mind.
It would be helpful if the applicants could drive owing to her love for outdoor activities.
A DBS is required, and you will NOT be
