Carer/Support Worker/PA – Netherton, Bootle (Ref: DP/JR/DVI)

Age: 5 years old

Gender: Male

Support needs: He is not potty trained and still in nappies, therefore needs to be changed when it requires. He is presently not independent. He does struggle to walk but he can cruise around his environment or his own space with his legs. He is presently not aware of danger and will need to be monitored.

Personality traits: He is a happy and bubbly boy who likes to play around his space and enjoys singing songs but can get angry when you try to stop him from doing what he likes.

Likes: He loves to sing and uses screen time a lot. He loves to explore his environment and likes when you sing a song for him. He enjoys his quiet time and likes to eat crisps (cheese and onion), banana and juice, cakes and biscuits.

Dislikes: He does not like it when you force him to do what he does not like. For instance, taking away anything he is holding that he is interested in at that moment, such as his tablet or other items. He does not like being kept away from food for too long.

Hours available: 4 hours per week, 6 hours per week during school holidays (days and times to be mutually agreed).

Rate of pay: £12.75 per hour

Duties: The support required to meet the service user’s needs during the agreed hours includes providing 1-1 support, close supervision at all times, supporting access to the wider community and fun social activities in his wheelchair, helping identify new interests and suitable sensory-friendly activities, providing personal care while maintaining dignity and comfort, supporting with respite and short break programmes including trips to parks, accessing sensory-friendly activities such as cinema sessions and community activities, supporting sports and recreation activities such as swimming or dancing, supporting community access and life skills such as using transport or ordering food, and supporting structured outings during holiday periods.

Essential skills: Friendly, caring and empathetic, enthusiastic with a positive outlook and sense of humour, reliable and punctual, a good communicator. Experience with children with additional needs is desirable but not essential. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable but optional.

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences and will be paid for by the employer. This is a private household role and we cannot provide sponsorship, so applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
