Age: 8 years
Gender: Male
Support needs: Diagnosed with ADHD. He is hyperactive and does not hold on to a particular task for too long. If not supported, he can become frustrated, agitated or angry. He needs to be accompanied, monitored and supported to complete tasks.
Personality traits: He is cheerful, loving and can be emotional at times.
Likes: He likes screen time, watching Sonic, using his iPad tablet and playing with car toys. He enjoys exploring his environment, singing songs and playing. He likes crisps (cheese and onion).
Dislikes: He does not like being forced to do things he does not like. For example, taking away items he is interested in at that moment such as his tablet. He does not like being kept away from food for too long.
Hours available: 6 hours per week, 8 hours per week during school holidays (days and times to be mutually agreed).
Rate of pay: £12.75 per hour
Duties: The support required includes providing respite and short breaks such as supervising outings to parks, supporting sensory activities such as cinema sessions and community activities to build social skills, supporting sports and recreation activities such as swimming, football or dancing, supporting community access and life skills such as using transport and ordering food, supporting structured holiday outings, providing 1-1 support, maintaining close supervision at all times, supporting access to community and social activities, helping identify new interests, and providing personal care support including help with toileting and hygiene.
Essential skills: Friendly, passionate, caring and empathetic, enthusiastic with a positive outlook and sense of humour, reliable, punctual and understanding, a good communicator. Experience with children with additional needs is desirable but not essential. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable but optional.
An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences and will be paid for by the employer. This is a private household role and we cannot provide sponsorship, so applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
